Australian Esports High School League Rulesets

General Rules

Player Information
Users are required to forward accurate personal details when registering for the tournament. All personal information a user provides to the Australian Esports League must be accurate. Any information collected will be handled pursuant to our??Privacy Policy.

Terms
Players wishing to enter this tournament must have read, adhere to and be aware of the??Terms and Conditions of Entry.

Mogul.gg
All tournaments in this league will be run through Mogul.gg

Format
All tournaments in this league will be a ladder format wherin teams are able to challenge other teams that are higher place than them on the ladder and move up and down places based on the results of the challenge.

Discord
The AEL High School Discord will be the primary mode of communication between players and tournament officials for all matters regarding this tournament.

ALL players on a team MUST join the AEL High School Discord, teams with players who are not in the AEL High School Discord may be penalised and even disqualified from the tournament.

AEL Player ID
All players are required to provide their AEL Player ID upon registration, and must be sited if asked by an Admin

Student ID’s
A player must provide a valid and current Student ID to enter this tournament. This league is exclusive to high school students, Student ID???s will be checked and verified at the end of registrations and over the course of competition.

Sportsmanship
Users are required to uphold, observe and respect a reasonable level of sportsmanship. This level of sportsmanship is expected to be conducted prior to, during and after matches and during their general participation in our tournaments. Unsportsmanlike conduct is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, interactions with other teams and general abuse or non-compliance towards administrators, casters or spectators.

Player Eligibility
All players must not be banned from competing in the game they are participating in.

In-Game alias, handle or avatar
We require users to label themselves in matches with an in-game alias similar or distinguishable enough to the one they provided at registration. Inappropriate in-game aliases and avatars will not be tolerated, including names which have themes of discrimination, racism or sexism.

Team Information
Teams must be formed featuring players from the same Australian High School

A player may only play for one team per game for the duration of the tournament

This includes substitute players (i.e. a player may not substitute for two different teams, even within the same organisation)

Team names containing any of the following will not be tolerated: profanity, racism, sexism, drug use, silly or too big in size. Refusing to change a team name or repeat use of an inappropriate name will result in punishment. Teams may not use the name of a team in which is not theirs.

Match Scheduling
All players must ‘check in’ through the Mogul.gg game lobby, check in opens 15 minutes before the scheduled match start

Players will have a grace period of 20 minutes after the scheduled start time to check in or they forfiet the match.

Penalties
Tournament officials reserve the right to issue any of the following penalties:

  • Warning
  • Final Warning
  • Forfeiture of a single round or game
  • Forfeiture of a match
  • Player suspension from league
  • Player disqualification from league
  • Team disqualification from league
  • Temporary ban from all AEL tournaments and/or events
  • Permanent ban from all AEL tournaments and/or events

Player Connections
Player connections are solely the responsibility of the individual. Should an issue arise regarding widespread connection problems to the server, then the match is rescheduled, cancelled or postponed. This decision is made at the discretion of the administration team.

Observers
Only AEL admins are allowed to observe matches directly in the game, however, all players may stream their point of view.

Cheating
Cheating will not be tolerated in any form. This includes but is not limited to; bugs, cheats, scripts, hacks and macros (This includes jump binds). The offender and potentially the team will forfeit all matches for the current tournament.

Rocket League 3v3

Platform
PC, XBOX ONE, PS4 & Nintendo Switch (The relevant online subscription is required for console play)

Match Format
Teams will play a Bo5 (Best-of-five) series per match, each game will result in a win or a loss for a team. Once a team has reached 3 game wins, they are the winner of the match!

Game Settings
The game settings below will be used for all matches:

  • Game Mode: Soccar
  • Default Arena: Mannfield
  • Team Size: 3v3
  • Bot Difficulty: No Bots
  • Team Settings: Default Colours (Blue, Orange)
  • Mutators: Set Series Length to 5 Games, everything else is set to default settings.
  • Match Time: 5 Minutes
  • Region: Oceania
  • Joinable By: Name/Password or Party Only
    • If you have selected ???Name/Password??? you will need to distribute this information to the opposing team.
      or
    • If you have selected ???Party Only??? you will need to invite the opposing team to the lobby (you will need to have them added by using their RL ID).

Lobby Creation

Hosting a match
The defending team will host the match, unless both teams agree otherwise.

The following process should be followed to create matches, and discussion as to which team will host the match can be conducted either in either discord or via the match chat on Mogul.

From the main menu, select ???Play??? > ???Private Match??? > ???Create Private Match??? and follow the game settings listed above.

Joining a match
Name and Password: If you have been provided with a name and password follow the following and enter in the appropriate details in the ???Name??? and ???Password??? field.

From the main menu, select ???Play??? > ???Private Match??? > ???Join Private Match???, from this point you will be prompted for the Name and Password which the opposing team will provide if they are creating the match!

Party Only: If the team that is hosting the match have selected ???party only???, they will be required to invite you to their lobby via the ROCKETID Friends tab in your friends list!

Rocket League 1v1

Platform

DOTA 2

Platform
PC, Steam Edition

Match Format
Teams will play a Bo1 (Best-of-one) series match, each game will result in a win or a loss for a team. Once a team has reached 1 game win, they are the winner of the match!

Game Mode
Captains Mode 5 v 5 (Teams)

Side Selection
Mogul will automatically assign teams to either Dire or Radiant, in the event that Mogul does not assign a server then the defending team will get the choice of which side they want.

Pauses
Each team has the right to pause a total of 5 times, amounting to a total of 10 minutes per team, whichever is reached first.

Players are to announce a pause before the pause is activated and give a legitimate reason for the pause (exception: not necessary if someone disconnects).

The game must not be resumed before both teams agree with it.

When either the total number of pauses has been reached or the allotment of pause time per team has been reached the game must continue regardless of any further issues.

Game Conclusion
A game ends when a team???s Ancient is destroyed, when the majority of a team leaves on purpose, or when the administration decides on it. (A game is not forfeited, when a player types ???gg??? or ???ff???. Always wait for the ancient to be destroyed).

Match Format
Players will play a Bo5 (Best-of-five) series per match, each game will result in a win or a loss. Once a player has reached 3 game wins, they are the winner of the match!

Game Settings
The Game settings below will be used for all matches:

  • Style: Stock
  • Stock: 3
  • Time: 7 Minutes
  • FS Meter: Off
  • Damage Handicap: Off
  • Items: Off and none
  • Stage Hazards: Off
  • Team Attack: Default
  • Launch Rate: 1.0x
  • Score Display: Off
  • % Show Damage: Yes
  • Mii Fighters: All moveset combinations are legal

Lobby Creation

Hosting a match
The defending player will host the match, unless both players agree otherwise.

The following process should be followed to create matches, and discussion as to which player will host the match can be conducted either in either discord or via the match chat on Mogul.

From the main menu, select ???Online??? > ???Smash??? > ???Battle Arenas??? > ‘Create Arena’ and follow the match settings listed below.

  • Password: On
  • Type: All Skill Levels
  • Visibility Public
  • Format: 1-on-1
  • Rules(Player will have to create a ruleset following the game settings above).
  • Rotation: Default
    • Max Players: 2
    • Stage: Choice
    • Custom Stages: Off
    • Amiibo: Off
    • Spirits: Off
    • Voice Chat: Off

You will need to set a name and password for the arena

Lastly you will need to pass on the Arena ID (visible in the top right hand corner) and the password to your opponent

Joining a match
From the main menu, From the main menu, select ???Online??? > ???Smash’ > ‘Battle Arenas??? > ???Join Arena??? > ???Enter Arena ID??? from this point you will be prompted for the Arena ID and Password which the opposing team will provide if they are creating the match

* Battlefield and Omega variations of the stages are allowed when a player counterpicks either Battlefield or Final Destination respectively.
However, the following stages are not allowed to be selected in Battlefield and Omega forms:

  • Dream Land GB
  • Duck Hunt
  • Flat Zone X
  • Fountain of Dreams
  • Gamer
  • Hanenbow
  • Mario Maker
  • Mute City SNES
  • Pac-Land
  • Windy Hill Zone

This list is subject to change.

Set Procedure

  1. Select your fighter (bottom right corner of the screen)
  2. Determine the first stage (use the mogul lobby chat)
    • Defending player chooses which player strikes the first stage from the ???starter stages???
    • Stages are stuck in a P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
    • The remaining stage is the one to be played
  3. Both players must change their ???preferred stage??? (next to fighter select)
  4. Move your character tiles from the waiting area into the ring then players play the first game of the set
  5. Determine the next stage
    • Winning player of the preceding game bans 2 stages (from the ???starter stages??? and ???counterpick stages???).
    • The losing player of the preceding game picks a stage for the next game (they cannot pick a stage they have already won a game on)
  6. The next game is played.
  7. Repeat Steps 5 through 7 for all subsequent games until one player has won 3 games.

Pauses
Pauses are only permitted while either player remains upon their own respawn platform and may only be used for the purpose of contacting a Tournament Official or controller malfunction.

If the pause causes the opponent to lose a stock, the pausing player receives a game loss. This rule also applies to controllers which cause the game to revert to the Switch home screen.

Player Controllers
Player controller connections are solely the responsibility of the individual. Should an issue arise regarding connection problems and no damage has been dealt to the player experiencing the connection issues the game may be restarted, If damage has been dealt to the player with connection issues play will either continue or the player experiencing the controller issues will forfeit 1 round.
Macros of any kind are not permitted.

Additional Rules

Stalling
Stalling, or intentionally making the game unplayable, is banned and at the discretion of tournament staff. Stalling includes but is not limited to becoming invisible, continuing infinites past 300%, and reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you. Stalling will result in a forfeit of the game for the player that initiated the action.

Character Colour/Team Colour Selection
If there is a dispute in character colours or team colours (e.g. both players want to use green Fox), the defending player gets the colour.

Collusion
Players suspected of colluding may be immediately disqualified from the tournament. This includes intentionally throwing a game, splitting a payout, or committing any other form of bracket manipulation. The TO reserves the right to deny payout of event winnings to any player suspected of colluding.

Misinterpretation/Misconfiguration
Games or sets are not to be replayed due to a misinterpretation of the rules OR misconfiguration of game settings, excluding player-specific settings. It is the players??? responsibilities to ask the TO for any clarification of the rule set in the event of a disagreement, and the outcome of a game or set will not be changed after the fact unless under extreme circumstances, judgment reserved for tournament staff.

In the event players begin a game with misconfigured player-specific controls (controller settings, etc.), players may not back out of a game to correct their settings once ten seconds have passed. After this time limit has passed, players must use their misconfigured settings, subject to tournament staff discretion.
